Favorite place to be as a student at the U of M. Amazing membership rates if you go to the U of M. If you aren't a student at the U of M, then it's very expensive. Nonetheless, it is a fantastic facility in terms of technology, space, maintenance and equipment. The staff is great too.

So sad to take my review down from 5 to 1. Great facility, great staff, but the cell phone use in the locker-room is getting out of hand. Today there were 9 people using cell phones from the two short periods of time before and after my workout. I've tried to alert the desk for months now but nothing has changed. Signage has not even improved. May 2018 Update After hearing from the owner (below) that new signage had been posted I was quite excited to see for myself. Unfortunately the new signs do not say that cell phones are prohibited in the locker-rooms. The new signs contradict the sign at the entry of the locker-room that says electronics are prohibited. The new signs say, in smaller letters at the bottom: “We also ask that members refrain as much as possible from using their smartphones in the change room to avoid any suspicion of photos or videos being taken." The owners response below also seems to contradict the entry sign. The owner says: “I'd like to clarify that our policy states members are not permitted to take photos and videos in our sport and recreation facilities. This does not imply that they're not allowed to use their phones for other purposes such as email, phone calls, listening to music, etc.” The owner's response also contradicts what I was told at the front desk yesterday. I asked if cell phone use was allowed in the locker-room and the employee said, “No, because we can't tell if you are taking photos or videos.” To me, putting signs up that say no picture or video taking is similar to putting up no stealing signs. Pretty well everyone knows that you are not allowed to take photos and video in the change rooms. The only way to ensure that they aren't doing it is not to allow cell phone use. If you allow cell phone use, people are going to be able to take photos and video without anyone knowing. I have to believe at some point someone is going to find that photos or video of them changing or showering have been posted on the net, and the ALC is going to get sued. Especially considering that the signage, owner's, and employee responses contradict each other. Along with the fact that they don't appear to be enforcing the rule. That is if cell phone use is prohibited or not in the locker-rooms. At this point I don't even know.

The gym has a ton of natural light and a variety of equipment. Downside is there no free parking during the daytime. And the evenings and lunch can be very busy cause of the university students and employees.

Great facilities, a lot of equipment and variety. Decent layout as well, with multiple floors. There are many windows too, allowing for decent natural lighting. Lifetime membership rates for alumni is great as well. Staff are quite friendly, and more than willing to answer any questions at hand.

Awesome place to workout!!! Great gym environment. People have a positive out look, and that's great. I like the way I feel working out at this center. Best in the city.
