Best gym in town. I bought a membership here since the college gym was lacking. Equipment is older but still works fine. Staff was super friendly and would always greet me upon arrival.

Cancelled my Service and was billed for months and months afterwards and was NOT on a contract. The Young man at Customer Service was unhelpful, rude and blamed me. I have since joined Planet Fitness which charges 10$ instead of the 45$ I was paying at Spectrum, Planet Fitness has nicer more modern facilities and they have FREE tanning as well. Spectrum has a long way to go if they want to keep their doors open. I find Spectrum does not spend any money maintaining equipment. The cables are always coming of the pulleys on the machine. This can be very dangerous as I'm over 50. Most of the equipment is at least 20 years old. I would expect more from Customer service to retain clieents

AVOID THIS PLACE!! My review is below, but I just thought I'd edit this long story to add: I put this same review on the their facebook page. The management was pretty quick to tell me that I was lying, and that none of this ever occurred. The people involved even chimed in to say that nothing had happened. But why would I junk $700 worth of gym memberships if this place wasn't as bad as I say it is? So, not only is this place full of 'Roid ragers and broken equipment, the managers cater to their friends first and foremost. In March I decided to bring my daughter to the gym with me because she wanted to do squats. We had done this once before about a month ago. I set up the bar for her and she did her squats flawlessly. I then loaded the bar and went to do mine. But something was totally wrong. And honestly, I couldn't figure out what it was at first, but then it dawned on me that she was taller than me and the bar was too high. This was not the case four weeks ago. We had a laugh about it before this young lifter cut in and told me that I was doing it "wrong". I told her that I knew, and that my daughter was somehow taller than she was last time we were here and that I have been squatting for ten years so I was fine. The girl had a few other snide comments, and because things were tense, I tried to joke with her about how squats are so good, to cut the tension. It didn't do much good, so I just ignored her. While we did our sets a very muscular, bald man was crashing around the weight room and glaring at me, but I didn't think it was meant for me; although it was a little unsettling at the time because he seemed really angry. My daughter and I finished up, and he ran over and asked if I was done with the rack. I said yes. And we left. Now, if I hadn't of forgotten my water, I wouldn't have heard this guy and the young girl (the one that had remarked that I was doing it wrong) standing in the weight room talking loudly about how "people like me shouldn't be lifting" They called me stupid. They called me fat. They made fun of me. And I heard them plain as day. So did anyone else that was in the weight room. It was mortifying. Now, I don't put up with bullying. I walked up to the girl and said, "I can hear you. Stop talking about me." The large muscular man rushed me and SCREAMED in my face, so loud that my daughter heard it from the women's gym that they were just trying to help me. That I shouldn't even be lifting anyways. He then repeatedly screamed in my face - "WE ARE JUST TRYING TO HELP YOU!!!" I was legitimately frightened. I realized at that point this guy was angry I even used the rack, let alone got the settings wrong. How dare I? He was inches from my face, so close that I could see his blood shot eyes and the spittle that flew from his mouth while he screamed in my face. I told one of the staff, and they told me I should probably just stick to the women's gym if that is the case. It's quieter there. However, they don't have a squat rack in the women's gym. I guess squat racks are only for "real" lifters. Also, this gym is a mess! The only room where anyone puts things back is in the women's section. The stretching area is always full of cast off articles. Things in the weight room are just left laying wherever. I've had to move bars off of things that weighed more than I could handle, just to do my workout. I've unloaded more plates for other people than when I worked at a gym. It's so messy some days that its a tripping hazard. Management doesn't do anything about it and the culture of the gym is that it is someone else's problem. TL,DR -I'm out 700 dollars for gym memberships that I can't use, because some muscle bound creep threatened me when I didn't like his girlfriend calling me fat and stupid because I didn't realize my kid is taller than me now. ANY GYM IS BETTER THAN THIS HOVEL!
