I love this theater. Locally owned and a fixture of the neighborhood. Open seating and fairly comfortable seats with drink holders. Bathrooms are on the second floor, which can sometimes be an issue, and there's not a whole lot of space in the entry area, so it can be chaotic when a lot of people are at the snack counter. Staff is friendly and helpful. Close to lots of bars, restaurants, and cafes if you want to eat or drink before or after your movie.

I was excited to finally go in this iconic art deco theater. I had read some ten or so years ago it had been purchased for renovation. It was great that we didn't have to sit through trailers, a policy of this theater I have not seen elsewhere. I guess that renovation never happened. The seats were butt-sprung and super uncomfortable. We fought and lost for armrest space. The art deco elements are mostly on the outside, so the interior was blah. Parking was available for the 7 pm Saturday show, - we paid for 3 hours to watch a movie that ran 2 hours plus fifteen. $8.59. The $1.59 was listed as tax? But not the theater's fault. Pay for parking is part of city life. The theater aisles were not lit along the floor, and we had to use cellphone flashlight once the lights went out, as inside it really does get Pitch Black, one movie I would return there to see. I guess this place is best for it's neighborhood indie film festivals and the like. One bonus is several same-block choices for eats, beers and ice cream. Sadly, Starbucks was closed by the 7 pm show.

Cool fun small theatre. They have 3 screens and no assigned seating, they show latest releases. a fun experience and if you're in the mood for a quick bite to eat or drinks before or after the movies, you're in luck the theatre is located in the heart of Ballard

If you want a classic, old style movie going experience, the Bay is perfect. The downstairs theater is the best...the upstairs ones are a little small...but I usually don't mind.
