The renovations last year really dressed this place up. As a professional film critic I'm picky about theatres (mainly because I spend a lot of time in them!). Empire Shawnessy has very comfortable seats (always important) and the sound and projection are excellent. The staff are very nice and always accommodating. They have decent concessions at the usual prices (you can get a nice slice of pizza for a few bucks). Fortunately I'm usually there during less busy times... during peak times my only complaint is parking can be hard to find since a new bar opened up on the other side of the parking lot. They are very close to the C-train for anyone looking to take transit... in fact I think they are the closest theatre to any train station in Calgary.

Great movie experience

I like this movie theatre. The screens are decent and the sound quality is pretty good too. Be prepared for expensive eats and treats though.

The image quality is very bad it is really blurred. I can not believe that everybody ready to watch this crap of quality, suffer it and to pay money for that. I feel like it is 19 century but not 21. It is better to stay home and watch a HD TV. Very disappointing.

Decent screens and extra entertainment via an arcade. Cons: Can be crowded and beverages and snacks are pricey.
