A world-class theater on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Multiple stages for a diversity of theater works. The building is an architectural wonder, giving visitors views of the falls on the Mississippi, as well as the Stone Arch Bridge. A platform extends off the building into the open air, offering viewers an expansive view of the old and newer parts of Minneapolis around the Mississippi. People with disabilities on limited income qualify for $5 tickets to preview shows. Call the box office for details. The restaurant in the theater is a wonderful place to start the evening, with menus constantly varying. The quality of the plays are worth the time and price, although if you are looking for Broadway quality, fly to Manhattan. The Guthrie, however, offers powerful plays you would not find on Broadway. The Guthrie tackles controversial issues in some plays, which leave the audience with questions to ponder rather than judgments to propagate.

What a blessing to have such an amazing theatre at your finger tips. I took my mom to see their production of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” and our seats were great, the show started on time and the production value and acting was top notch. It’s no wonder that great actors get their start here. Not to mention that the theatre is in a beautiful location and their observation deck and “yellow room” make for a fun way to pass time during intermission with a drink in hand. If you’re visiting the area and looking for a great activity taking in a show at the Guthrie is a great option and well worth the cost. And if you’re local and haven’t yet been to the Guthrie it’s the perfect date night or a great gift for someone you love!

First time here and it was wonderful. Parking in the parking structure across the street was convenient and easy to get in and out of. The meeting space outside ot the theaters was roomy and allowed nice space for meeting friends and having drinks. My only complaint was that the seats were hard and uncomfortable. Everything else was outstanding. The quality of the acting and the set design was amazing.

I really love that you can just walk around most of the building even if you aren't there to see a show! The Endless Bridge is very unique and so mesmerizing. The Amber Box is a must-see. AMAZING views of the city's riverside through colored glass. Bring your camera!!!!!! Be forewarned, however, that these two highlights can be closed to the public for weddings, etc. Call ahead so you won't be disappointed!

West Side Story was the play being performed. It was fabulous. I have nothing but praise for EVERYTHING about it. The actors did a wonderful job!The orchestra was also excellent. The gift shop at the Guthrie is way too expensive for my station in life though.
