Penobscot Theater is a great venue showcasing both local and professional talent in downtown Bangor. Each season offers a slate of shows that appeal to a variety of interests from classic to contemporary, straight plays to musicals. Since Bari Newport has become the artistic director, her dynamism and enthusiasm have ratcheted up the quality of productions and the physical plant. Every time I go, there has been some improvement to the beautiful historic theater, and I learn of interesting initiatives and programs like the summer camps for children or the annual trip to NYC for Broadway shows. Folks at the theater have worked hard to contribute to the revival of the vibrancy of downtown Bangor and are great community citizens. Few towns in Maine have the good fortune to have such a jewel. Definitely worth the trip.

The Penobscot Theatre is a gem to have in Bangor. Great professional theatre. The season stretches from September to May. Lots of talented actors and actresses and a variety of plays throughout the season. Any play with Domnick Varney is a must see!

Every time I have been here has been wonderful. Staff is great. Shows were great. Prices are very reasonable. Not a bad seat.

Just saw Les Miserable, great performance. The new seating is a great improvement.
