My Dad was a Sea Bee stationed in Argentina from 1767 to 1969 or 70 between tours in Vietnam. The only way there was by ferry. What an adventure for a child. I remember condition "1" weather, conditions so harsh that no one was allowed outside but dad would have to report for duty. and playing outside in the snow at recess when conditions weren't so bad. The sun barely setting summer and darkness all winter. It was primitive in some respects outside of the base as I recall. But even at 7 years old I was in awe of the rugged beauty. Moose would come down where the barracks were and grace at night when everyone had gone inside. It seemed to snow all the time except in the summer but it was always cool outside. As I child I loved it. It's kind of sad to see every bit of it gone.

My husband was stationed there 1967-69, I remember it was quite a culture shock & and a memorable experience.

Old airbase. Not much left to see. Disappointing to explore.

Served as a Marine for base security from 1955 to 1957. Met some wonderful people and have many great memories of my time in Newfoundland and on the Navy Base.
