This little theatre has big, big heart!! Beyond the talent and entertaining on and behind the scenes, there is a whole lot of love, dedication and the kind of people who open their arms wide to embrace you as friend after a short period of time. These same people work tirelessly on Cookstown's famous "Wing Ding" weekend to put on an elegant tea service and sell strawberry shortcake desserts in order to raise funds for the theatre. Though the building itself has seen some fresher days, don't let it's rustic exterior deter you.

The theatre events are really good, we'll worth a season subscription. The theatre itself is small and old and not particularly comfortable (bring a cushion for the wooden seats!) but the events are fun.

Great Community Theatre for a fraction of what it would cost you to drive to Toronto. For the person who commented about the location and gave the theatre two stars, it's a historic building built in 1867. Due to that, it cannot be modified and the theatre does its best to make things comfortable. Frankly, the age of the building adds to the character and experience of coming to see a show at SST.

Saw a fantastic play with actors taking on multiple roles. Also excellent goodies available at intermission!

Local theatre housed in a historic lodge/church. Quality performances by amateur actors / singers. Small and quaint with wooden chairs. During intermission they offer hot cider and homemade cookies etc. at reasonable prices. Clean bathrooms. Parking can be an issue so chime early. Great variety of plays, musicals and readings at a fraction of the cost.
