The idea of H&R is pay a little extra to have you taxes filed easily and conveniently, if this is what you're looking for I would recommend staying away from this location. After spending 4 and a half hours waiting as the person helping me tried to fumble his way through the computer I had to leave. I wish I was able to get the nearly 5 hours I spent at this location back as I also ended up missing an appointment I had scheduled later on that day.

WORST TAX COMPANY OUT THERE!!! SHAM!!! My husband and I just left the Carleton Place location with $450 less in our pockets. I am livid. We dropped our taxes off over a week ago and was given the runaround by the receptionist who was completely unhelpful. I had to ask to speak with someone else who could help with my questions and she said that no he would tell me the same thing she did. I spoke with him and he DID help me. Then we are told that we are to expect a large CCB benefit only to find out that the accountant hadn't gone online to get my husband's T4 so everything completely changed. Today we arranged to go in and sign all the paperwork to efile. It took well over an hour. Andrew explained that my few would be $250 approximately. I asked if he meant that was for both of us? He said no just for me. I was floored! He then said that my husband's was $140 and that combined it was under what we spent previous years. It has been 2 years since we used HR Block. He said he would give me a 10% discount off of the combined price. By the time I got up to the counter and a new receptionist took 15 minutes to come to a total (!!!) she said that it would be $240 EACH which included the 10% discount. Andrew kept going back and forth from his desk to try and correct the total. I explained that my kids and husband have been paintiently waiting this entire time in the car and I need to get going. They both conferred and said there was nothing they could do. I said I was not paying that price it is outrageous! He said things had changed since becoming corporate rather than a franchise. I said I would pay for Peter's and take mine home to do on my own but the receptionist said she already efiled it! Before I paid!! I am floored. How can a company have people drop off their taxes thinking they are spending the advertised $69 and then have them show up with a $500 bill!?!? If there were more charges to be incurred we should have been notified to agree on these extra charges. I dropped everything off all organized and filed to make it as easy as possible and STILL ended up with this bill. I earned all the customers behind me waiting to be careful with these people... I am sure they will be second guessing their decision to do their taxes since they were parents too and we need that money for groceries and diapers!!! I will NEVER return and will make sure anyone who ever ask a about this company is earned of this horrible experience!!! What a sham you are!!!

Flat out lied too. Made an adjustment to taxes for submitting a T22. After the adjustment, she told it would take the CRA 6-8 weeks to deposit my cheque. Awesome, but now we're at 8 weeks later so I call the CRA who happily told me "we don't know why hr block told you this, but the process takes up to 25 weeks" 25 weeks? Why lie to me, I have already started a formal complaint with head office with the indidivual. Best advice, do your own taxes, this shady behaviour is only more apparent over the years.
