Everyone here is so approachable and friendly, even when it is busy they have time for a smile! They nicely reserve the knitting group I belong to a table every Thursday without fail, and cater to our need of extra lighting while we are there. We would be 'homeless' without them!

A great place to get a drink and bite to eat after visiting the kingston penitentiary. The food excellent the service to class and very hospitable. I would definetly recommend the Portsmouth tavern a must visit for anyone

The bartender was so informative he let us know a lot of the area and all about the Kingston Penitentiary which is right beside it which is now closed and only used for tours and if we ever come back to Kingston again I think we're going to drop in there and enjoy their wings which are all you can eat on a Monday night$6

Since the Lakeview Manor closed, this is the only watering hole left in Portsmouth Village. I don't get down here much anymore, but it is always a good place to have a pint and a meal whenever I do. I am sure that now Kingston Penitentiary has reopened for tours, it will no doubt be a little busier.

A comfortable pub, decent food, good drinks and friendly staff. A lot of parking nearby too, which makes it easy for larger groups, and there's karaoke on Friday nights, live bands on Saturdays.
