Had a great night here. We were walking around on Saturday night, at around 11:00, and most places were closed or closing. We were about to turn around when we heard some music from up the street. As we got closer, we noticed that there were lits of people and a great singer singing and playing the guitar and what turned out to be guests playing tamborines. People in the place were singing and dancing at some point. Had so much fun. The while city was dead, except for this awesome place! Will definitely go back.

Great ambiance and location, but the worst meal we have ever had. Everything was over priced and outdated. The appetizers we had were the escaragot and carpaccio; both decent but for $14.95 each, the portions were ridiculously small and not worth it. Our entrees took over an hour, and as soon as they came to the table, we knew it wasn't going to be good. I ordered the seafood linguine and my boyfriend ordered the rabbit. The seafood linguine had a weird taste to it, and was served in a cream sauce. Ive never had seafood pasta in a cream sauce. In the pasta, the "seafood" were tiny little shrimps and scallops that were clearly from frozen, and had some weird doughy bits. It was a $30 dish, you think it would have fresh scallops and shrimps that were at least a decent size. The rabbit was dry, and came with 4 pieces of roasted veggies...also covered in a white cream sauce. Oh! And when we were given the bread basket, there was a giant piece of wax from a candle stuck between the bread and it was so stale! The bill was $160 after tax and tip! The server and musician, however, were great. But it totally ruined our last night in Quebec City. Super disappointed is an understatement.

While walking around Quebec, we kept looking at menus posted outside some of the restaurants before coming to this Cafe. The menu looked like a good selection of items, both regular fare and fancier food. I joked earlier about eating some "Frenchie-food", or some local Quebecian dishes. So, we went in. I liked the feel of it immediately, and the host was quick to greet us and seat us. There was a guy singing and playing guitar, both French language and American rock standards. He was very good, and entertaining. Service is by committee here, so someone is always coming by making sure you have water or if you need another drink. I had a red ale. For appetizers, I wanted to try the Soupe aux Pois Canadienne (Canadian Pea Soup), which gave me my local food. We also ordered Courgettes Gratinees (Baked Zucchini with cheese and tomato sauce). For my main entree, I chose Beef Bourguignon. My travel girl chose from the Prix Fixe menu, Puff Pastry with tomato and basil app and Quebec Pork Chop in maple sauce for a main. Comes with dessert. Which was pie and chocolate sauce. THE FOOD: The pea soup was delicious. Not creamy like American pea soup. This was pea heaven, wonderful in its simplicity. The Baked zucchini was also fantastic. Tons of flavor in a great rich tomato sauce and cheese bake to perfection. This was the first time I've had Beef Bourguignon and I gotta say, it was superb. The sauce was rich and savory, thick with flavor and just made the meat even better. It came with baby carrots, French beans and red potatoes. All were delicious. Travel girl's puff pastry was light and airy with great tomato and basil flavor. The Quebec Pork chop was done perfectly, moist and tasty. Pie good. We were not in a rush and the restaurant was 3/4 full, so food was slow coming out, but we didn't mind. It was a great atmosphere and a beautiful day. Service was sooo excellent. We were made to feel like regular customers, and had fun.

Worst dining experience of my life. Received cold pasta and wilted lettuce over an hour after I placed my order. I wish I could give this restaurant lower than one star but I can't.
