We went out on the big AML boat with 2 small children and myself. It was a good experience overall and the big boat worked as well as the zodiac I tried the day after. AML have no parking at Tadoussac, be prepared. Parking at the church is $8. We went out in dense fog which wasn’t ideal but not a disaster, we still saw some good whale action. The boat offers toilets and refreshments as well as three different levels of viewing area. There is a constant upbeat commentary around 60-70% French and the rest English and Spanish. The boat felt crowded but it was easy to get a spot as the bulk of people would dash to every sighting leaving gaps at the opposite railing. Commentary was non stop. Your kids might be allowed to sit on the stairs leading to the front platform observation deck if you are lucky. High quality cruise in the fog, recommended if a zodiac is not a prospect for you and your family. Plan ahead to tackle parking and logistics at Tadoussac.

We were afraid that the activity might be "over touristic" but the cruise was in fact amazing! We took the AML Grand Fleuve and we really appreciated the kindness & respect of our guide towards the environment. She took the time to describe the different species' characteristics and habits. We saw a couple of rorqual chasing food and a hundred of seals. Do not expect to see whales jumping every 5 minutes from the water, it's not an aquarium!

The reception desk was horrible, it was super busy down there, there was only one older lady take care of every phone call and customers, 2 other young girls, 1 was playing her ipad and complete ignore rest of customers doesnt matter how busy front desk was, another one basic has no idea what she should do. I give 3 stars because the captain of boat was very professional. After all, once we get on the boat, everything went well

the whale watching tour is very nice and it is suggested to book it in advance! you can book here immediately after arriving in Tadoussac. ask for the zodiac tour!

The larger ships are terrible for whale watching. Too many people, not enough room. Since the ship always steers towards the whales, only the few people at the front see anything. If you want to see whales up close, go by Zodiac.
