Simply put: slumlords and liars. Had issues from day 1 moving in to their building on 26 Clark road. The place was a disaster when we got there: drywall dust covering every surface in the place - including the giant couch that was left in the living room - corroded drain in the tub, grime covering every inch of the tub, shower head so covered in grime we had to replace it, broken flush trigger on toilet, fridge is held closed with a chain and screw and is also covered in minion and banana stickers, legs on front of fridge sawed off so the fridge tilts forward, oven has grime between the inner and outer window creating a stink whenever turned on, no smoke alarms, a broken washer in the utility room, a box full of junk including cannabis vape pens and other paraphernalia, casserole dishes with food still in them outside - frozen and moldy, cigarette butts and broken pottery scattered around the entryway, and smoke alarms had been removed. Unfortunately, we had nowhere else to go so they had someone come in and sweep but we had to move in that day. We asked to get the tub cleaned - and they did replace the drain after a week or two - but the man they sent to clean the tub just said that the tub just looks like and promptly left. We spent hours and at least $50 on cleaning products to scour the tub. Once we thought that everything was going to be okay, and we were told that our problems would be fixed, we started having plumbing issues. The toilet backed up and began flooding the apartment. This happened 3 times before they discovered that the pipes were warped. We were promised that every place that the sewage had touched would be replaced. That has yet to happen. We were also told that the pipes would be excavated and fixed but they have yet to do that, as well. We were offered no compensation for the time we took off work to allow workers into the apartment. Also, they began lying to us about the terms of the lease. When the lease was signed the agent with us said that only one of us needed to sign. Odd, but okay. Now they are saying that I am living there illegally anf that I was not approved to live there with my boyfriend. We had, however, co-applied and upon calling them to question this they stated that I had called them and said that I would not be living there. This is simply not true. So I re-applied but they never sent me any indication of approval. This was, of course, a very long-winded review but I feel that it is important that nobody else has to pay full price for an apartment that they cannot shower, use the restroom, or cook in. Avoid Canada Homes for Rent at all costs. (Also, there were more issues with the water pump, hot water heater, and baseboards but it's just too much to write)

Canada Homes For rent are not to be TRUSTED! they are theives and frauds hiding behind the "law", they will RIP you off like there is no tomorrow!!!!! if you are already a tenant with them or they manage your property, pls be careful and beware because when they start with you it will look like a dream! What happened: I was looking to rent an apartment in Dec to move in Jan 1st so I went on kijiji as usual and I found them, so I went to see the place over on 219 Duke st Uptown Saint John (it was a 3 bedroom apt). I saw the place and I liked it. So I signed the lease and gave a deposit of $1200 equivalent of the rent so 2 weeks later, there was a family emergency so I couldn’t move in Jan anymore, I emailed them and let them know. They called me and said they can’t refund the $1200 unless they get someone to sign a new lease in Jan so I said okay. Later on, I called them to get an update on them renting out the apartment. I called at first to ask if the Unit was still available and the lady on the phone said No, then I went ahead and said I was the lady that paid the deposit before and since they’ve rented the unit they should send my money back. The lady on the line put me on hold for like 2 mins and came back to tell me it wasn’t rent! I was like what??? You just told me it was? Then she insisted and said No it wasn’t rented. I hung up and called them back later, the same thing happened, then they said the lease was signed in February. And then they said because of that they can’t give me back my $1200 deposit, I hung up again because, at this point, I’m pissed. Then, I called them back in January, this time I told them since they won’t give me back my $1200, I would like to move in, they said that’s fine but I have to move out on the 31st because someone else has to move in. I WAS LIKE WHAT?!!?!?!?!?! So you won’t give me my money back, and you want me to move in and out for what 10DAYS?! NO NO NO! THAT'S NOT HAPPENING!!! YOU ARE THIEVES!!! GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!!!! Oh, so you thought I had forgotten because I stopped calling? OH NO, I DIDN’T!!!!! GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY YOU FRAUDS! And I have also reported you to the Service NB! $1200 is a lot of money for you to pocket! Give it back! They still haven't returned my money! Learn from my story and please don't fall a victim. They deserve 0 stars!
