Flew with Air Canada in March 2017 from Ottawa to Vancouver and it was almost a perfect experience. The flight there was really enjoyable and it’s amazing flying over the Rockies and being able to see it firsthand, the scale of the mountains and how they stretch on is incredible, and a neat way to experience the west coast for the first time. On the way back to Ottawa (actually two flights Vancouver to Toronto to Ottawa) the plane seemed to have been changed to a bigger one between when we booked our tickets and the flight, our window seats that we chose and paid extra for were now disappointingly isle seats in the middle of the plane. A pretty big letdown but customer service refunded the cost of the seat selection and I believe offered us 10% off our next flight, which was a good gesture but we fly so infrequently that the discount may never get used. The airport experience at all three Ottawa Toronto and Vancouver were good, lots of shopping options and love in Vancouver how we could take the Skytrain directly from the airport to our hotel downtown, that was amazing.

I always try to fly Air Canada. Not anymore. False advertising and no customer service. First, they advertise flight packages and include other air lines that are in there alliance. When booking your flight online, there was like 8 different flights to choose from. I literally tried all of them. It went all the way through to processing the visa. Then, comes to a page saying to call there customer care number. So I call it, wait on hold for an hour until someone picks the phone up. I try booking my flight with them again, this takes another hour, where it seems to me a simple procedure. They say that they can’t honour the same price as the multiple flights online are priced at. For two tickets it’s another 800$. Scoundrels. After attempting many times I am still waiting for a manager to call me back and it’s been over 24 hours. Air Canada should be fined for false advertising. Why have an online store if you can’t sell anything on it for your advertised price. I guess because of there lack of service, that’s why people are flying with other airlines like west jet or united.

Worst airlines I have ever seen. Bus services are 100% better than this in India. Every where late and don't listen to customers. They just do what ever they want. Wonder this kind of airlines exist and running.

MORAL OF THE STORY: TRY TO CONTACT THE COURIER DIRECTLY FOR LOST BAGS. Where do I start? Our experience started in Toronto where our flight to Ottawa was delayed due to maintenance then cancelled. This is not their fault because its in the middle of winter. What gets me is that after a long wait to speak to customer service, we were assured that our bags would be on the flight with us. We were compensated with ten dollar food coupons (good on them). HOWEVER, when we reached our destination our bags were not there. Due to the long line to the baggage counter I assume that nobody who was on the original cancelled flight received their baggage. At the baggage desk, we gave the description of our bags and the address to which they were to be delivered. We were told we would get our bags that night or first thing the next morning. I corrected the gentleman who was dealing with us when he repeated the wrong address after we gave him our information. Guess what? No bags the next day. My sister and I called around 10 times between us to try to get somewhere with these people. We found out that the WRONG ADDRESS was on the online form. We corrected them AGAIN and were told that they would contact the delivery service with the new address. The guy on the phone told me some story about not being able to directly contact the delivery service and that they would send them an email. Several calls and hours of frustration later, we got the name of the courier from them and contacted them directly. Even though AC updated the address on THEIR system the courier service still had the wrong address. WE had to give them the right address. A simple phone call was all it took to correct it. SO WHY COULDN'T AC DO THIS??!!?? We are extremely disappointed in the lack of customer care on their part and their bungling of this situation.

Once again, our flight got cancelled a few hours beforehand because it wasn't full enough to their liking, which means that tomorrow's flight is going to packed. Their service went downhill in the last few years and at this point, you might just as well fly WestJet and pay less for the same service. Also, I know it may seem petty, but for the price of the ticket, we shouldn't be subjected to ads on the PA system or on the entertainment system. We fly Montreal-London 2 or 3 times a year and we are going back to British Airways, the price difference isn't that high but they're worlds apart when it comes to customer service. For interior flights, I can't wait for cheap airlines to start flying in Canada this year.
