I feel I have an obligation to aircraft owners of relating my experience with Goderich Aircraft (now doing business as New United Goderich) based in Huron Park, Ontario. In July of 2008 I delivered my TBM700 to their facility for a new paint job. Several months after returning the plane to my home base in BED I noticed paint chipping off around the door, the cowling, and some leading edges. I sent photographs of the damage to Goderich and they rightfully informed me that the plane needed to be repainted. In September of 2009 I again delivered the plane to the Goderich facility in Ontario. A few months after the completion of the second paint job I noticed sheets of paint missing from the surface of the plane. In places, the green primer coat was visible. Photos of the damage were sent to Goderich and again they said they would make things right. I was told the paint I originally selected would not adhere to the surface of the plane and it was necessary for me to select a new paint scheme. Reluctantly I did so from the paint samples they sent me. I picked up the plane in January, 2011. This past January when I picked up the plane from its annual I was informed the paint on the top of my plane was striped in places. Around the ADF antenna large cracks had formed and in one large circle all paint was gone, base metal showing. (Inspecting the top of the plane is not part of my pre-flight routine so I don't know how long ago the paint damage occurred.) Again, I sent photos to Goderich. Their response was that Goderich Aircraft, the company I contracted with for the paint job, was no longer in existence. The newly formed New United Goderich (same executive team) bought the assets of the former company, but did not take on any of its liabilities. My warranty with Goderich Aircraft was no longer in effect. The New United Goderich company agreed to supply me with paint, but the job of executing the repair is on me.
