I will not say that there is anything wrong with the ferry service itself. However, I feel Star Line is scamming customers when it comes to parking. We had purchased tickets online, which stated to use Dock #3 in St. Ignace. Where we turned into the parking lot for that dock, there was a huge FREE PARKING sign. But once we turned in, the attendant said, "Day parking is $5." No other information was offered to us, and there were already two more vehicles turning in behind us which we didn't want to hold up with a debate, so we handed over the $5. Upon returning from the island, we went inside the terminal to the ticket desk to inquire about the fee. We were told that free parking is across the street. We walked outside and looked "across the street", but the only thing we saw was an area adjacent to the Driftwood Motel with a big Star Line sign that said OVERNIGHT AND SEASONAL PARKING. I just now looked into the parking section of the Star Line website, and there is mention of free parking being somewhere across the street where you need to take a shuttle and that dockside parking (where the free parking sign is) costs $5 for the day. I will never use or recommend Star Line again because clearly their sign placement is to intentionally lure customers into the paid parking lot.

Great service, if you already bought your tickets online ir at the boot in Dock #1, you've got to get to Dock #3 for departure. You can also buy your tickets here. There's always a bit of waiting for departure, but that is something reasonably quick. If you want to get the best of it try ridding on the top and a bit to the front so you get the fresh air but not enough to cool you down too much.

Quick ride & amazing staff. Getting our bikes and luggage on and off the boat and to/from the hotel was a breeze! Definitely recommend!

Solid ferry service.that.runs on time. The boats were clean and the staff professional. Of course you can bicker about the price being too high, but that's everywhere. Enjoy the ride, and pick your ferry time carefully. Grab the right one (deboted on their schedule) and they'll drive you under the Mackinac Bridge. Sounds silly, but wow, it is so worth it.

Be aware about their dishonest business practices, when you approach the loading dock#3 in St. Ignace, you will see a large sign it will say DOCK#3 "FREE PARKING" not so much, they charge you $5 per car on top of the ticket price! They later say they have a "FREE" short term parking across the street.....apparently the sign on the another side is confusing as well...its says, "Overnight and Seasonal" and there is no "FREE" word on that sign. Totally misleading and false advertisement. It is illegal practice in State of Michigan. Also, I purchased the ticket online, which they said, pick up at "Will call" window, guess what....there is no such windows, if you have no printer at home you have to wait in regular queue to get the ticket and pay for the parking, in my case the lady at the front desk had no idea how to handle and print online order! So I have to wait another 15 minutes to get the tickets. Almost missed the boat!
