Tom at the Deck Store was excellent to deal with. He assisted me with the selection of Cutek deck stain which turned out to be a great product for my cedar pergola. I would definitely recommend this company as the service was excellent.

Three years ago we embarked on renewing an old deck. So we only needed the decking. Decided composite was the way to go. After frustrating visits to the "big box" store to purchase decking and seek advice, we were informed it would be a two or three week wait time for the product, also the staff had limited knowledgeable of decking options. Luckily, stumbled on the Deck Store and went to visit their location and were given very useful advice and a custom order of decking material and lengths to reduce wastage. the turn around for receiving the deck boards was four days. Highly recommend this store.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE, wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. When I walked in there last yr there wasn't anyone in the store except me, not one would help me, I had to go ask if someone could help me. Looked up at me , yah ill be right there. I felt like I was interrupting something. Took him about 20-25 mins to finally come over to us, was rude right from the beginning but I still bought from them, why i don't know maybe he was having a bad day. It seemed to get worse the following weeks when my materials were delivered. When I called to ask questions he was very rude and short with me, I guess that's what happens when they get your money. I went there this yr to get some glass for my railings, at first I spent about 600.00 on metal spindles but after talking to the person I wanted to upgrade to glass. When I went there that Saturday morning (I have to drive an hour one way to get there. I live outside of town) I went into the store and I didn't get a very nice greeting, what I got was " I can't waste my time with you, it's going to be busy today" I guess spending approx. $14,000.00 so far isn't good enough. I asked if I could return the spindles and buy the glass. Well wow what a commotion I caused, we have to charge you 25% restocking, I said even if im going to buy more product from you, yah. So I went the following Saturday to return the spindles and order the glass and the manager of the store came out from the desks and immediately jumped down my throat, YOU CAN'T RETURN THAT IT LOOKS ALL USED HOW CAN I RESELL THAT THIS IS A RETAIL STORE. That's when I told him how I've been treated from this store and he went back to his desk and I said im done with you guy's I want a refund, he quickly said in a very rude tone I don't even know your name and picked up the phone and dialed out ignoring me, wow nice guy to manage your store. I had 3 pieces of glass on order already and waited 3 weeks and no call, I was told approx. 8-10 day's so I called and they didn't know anything about it but another person from the store called me and assured me it would be there the next day and he did call and let me know it was there, thank you very much. When I went that Saturday to pick it up I was treated rudely again, and was told to go around back to pick it up. The only person that was polite to me was the blonde haired young lady that helped me. I wasn't sure about the sizes so they called the manager who was the same guy that freaked out on me and he came out and said there all the right sizes and explained it to me, great thanks. When leaving that same manager was in the loading yard talking to other employees and when I drove by I got the death stare from him. I would never recommend this store to anyone, I hope I never have to deal with people like that again when I spend $14,000.00 would you like to see the boxes of pickets, which are in the shape they were delivered to me, not wet, or ripped boxes, maybe a little mud on them, but that was from the delivery. maybe when your manager jumped at me instantly just maybe I wouldn't have gotten a little pissed off with his response. nothing was fabricated, just the truth, but I guess the truth hurts a business, look at the reviews, not all of us can fabricate stories that are true. but then again I don't have time for you, isn't that right . the picket boxes have not been opened they are still shrink wrapped as when I got them, yes they may have gotten wet in my garage from condensation since I have a heater in there for the winter. I have to ask, are they selling the box or the product inside the box, I would hope that the boxes would be in the recycling bin after being used, I hope the photos help

I had an excellent experience with Ken Brittner at the Deck Store in Calgary. When we first started looking at what materials we did not have any idea of what we were going to use. Ken showed us many products and we could see and touch the variety of products, not just in a brochure. Once we decided on the deck materials we started with the design and ordered the first package. Yard staff were great and the materials were well packaged and loading was a breeze. Over the Summer we completed 4-phases from framing, Decking to Railing system and all interaction with Ken at the Deck store was awesome. All material take-offs were accurate and no issues with material quality, Lumber was excellent quality and prices very competitive. Thanks to Ken and all the staff for all the help in creating my wonderful deck, this adds value to my home and will look great for years to come.

I called the store asking if they could assist with a 'pre canned' design. I was hoping that if I provided the dimensions they could just alter a basic design to fit my needs. The 'gentlemen' I was speaking with started blasting me immediately that "We're the deck store! Not the deck library! We might be able to provide some info at the time of purchase, but we're not here to give hand outs - we're a business!" In case that rep happens to read reviews, I wasn't looking for a freebie! I know some people in this world probably do want free help, but that wasn't my intent and to be attacked right off the bat with that attitude and smart mouth - forget it! I won't be shopping at the deck store ever! He could've said the same thing but without being condescending and rude.
