As an interior Designer in Vancouver, I've had really good experiences working with Blue Star on multiple projects. I have definitely had my fair share of incompetent and unskilled fabricators, but am very happy to work with Blue Star, knowing that they are very competitive in price, stick to their lead times, and install precisely. Connie is very easy to work with and is great at communicating quickly! Looking at other reviews, I want to comment that stone can only be applied as well as the millwork behind it is built and every situation is unique. If there are problems with alignment and shadows, the issue may not necessarily be at the fault of the stone installer.

Disaster from start to not even finished Our experience has been one error after another on a project of an office desk and two fireplaces. Caesarstone is a 56.5" X 120" slab and are available in two thicknesses - 3/4"and 1 1/4". The original quote was provided for the work but then increased by more than $1000 when they miscalculated the amount of Caesarstone needed for the work. One desk was deeper than the other but that was provided on the original diagram. It was not calculate correctly and the quote (the basis for the decision) was adjusted We worked with the measurer for the fireplace on design options and we went with a single panel installation with a middle cut out. While stunning, the piece cracked and we were forced to tear the fireplace panel off and redo with a new design. Caesarstone provided a new panel and recommended that this not be used without expansion joints. We were charged half of the installation cost even though the design was done based on input from the Bluestar measurer. The second fireplace was worse. The fireplace was made of up 4 panels which also wrapped around the surround. To match with the panel above the fireplace, a thicker 1 1/4" panel was to be used and those details were provided in the diagram to the company. The design was also discussed with the measurer. When the fireplace was brought, the 3/4" thickness slab was used and it left a large gap between the slab and the fireplace. This was rectified with small filler panels. The panel looked great but we noticed a few months later that the panels didn’t line up correctly and a shadow was being cast where two panels met. The installation was done in spring / summer in a room that we didn’t use the lights on until winter. We have been trying to get the company to come back for 18 months but realignment still hasn’t been done. We have called and left text messages with both Carol and Bruce from Bluestar suggesting different options to address the gap and even offering to pay for half of the rework. Carol can’t make a decision without Bruce. Bruce seems to spend more time in China than he does here. After 18 months of hoping this would be fixed, I’m and sharing my experiences – and posting pictures where I can. The only aspect of this installation that worked out was that because of the addition slab needed for the desk, I was able to use the excess for my garage cabinets. Little comfort given that I still have a fireplace that doesn’t look very good.
