Best yarn stop in the Okanagan! The ladies are so helpful and sweet. The sock class was one of the best things I've ever done!

Sep 28, 2018
Going forward I will not be spending my hard earned money at Art of Yarn on Pandosy. For the 3rd and final time I went in to inquire about and purchase a yarn they carried a year ago when I started my cardigan. I knew the name, the ball it was wrapped in, the location in the store and the woman "helping me" looked me in the eye and said "no, you're wrong and don't know what you're talking about. We have NEVER carried that yarn here. " Also, I have only seen this woman in the last 3x I've gone in and every time she's being absolutely horrible to me. Another co worker of hers comes from the back room and I proceeded to ask this other woman. She said "yes, we definitely did carry it a year ago, but it's since been replaced by this other yarn." I said " I have an arm left on my sweater and just ran short. I need the same yarn ." "Well, we don't carry it. So sorry, bye ." As she walked towards me basically shooing me out the door. By chance I thought Kelowna yarn and Needlecraft has been getting in be things lately. Maybe it's something they brought in. I phone and was very quickly answered they absolutely had what I was looking for. So I went down there and was completely respected and treated well. Going forward I urge all of my friends and fellow knitters to take their business to Kelowna Yarn And Needlecraft. If Cheryl the owner doesn't have something in stock, she has ordered it before for me. Even if that can't happen though, they go above and beyond to help their customers. I will not be shopping at Art of Yarn again. I'll leave you to make your own decisions, but remember if you experience what I do, they aren't the only shop in town!

Helpful friendly staff. Seems to cater to knitters vs those who crochet. Amazing yarn selection, albeit a bit pricey. Haven't tried their classes yet but they seem popular and fill up quickly. All around cute little local shop.

Beautiful selection of yarns representing the spectrum from workhorse yarns to fine artisan products. The merchandising is attractive and very well organized. You can tell that there's a lovely sense of community in this shop as everyone, staff and customers, is happy to answer questions and share the projects they're working on. But they'll also leave you be to browse if being quiet is more your thing. Sally was especially gracious in giving me a tour of the store and introducing me to the various product lines. Heads up... this is a hard place to leave without stocking up on lots of beautiful and unique yarn! I had a very tough time restraining myself. I'm just visiting the area but if I was a local, this would be my go-to yarn shop.
