Here is the short version of our experience with Decor-Rest. It makes me terribly angry to
read this sentence on their website: “We strive to provide not only an exceptional customer
service but also quality products…..”
We have owned a loveseat, sofa bed , chair & ottoman (in fabric) made by Decor-Rest for over
17 years and have been fully satisfied with their furniture. We recently decided to update our living room furniture with a more stylish leather sofa. After shopping for weeks for this new
piece of furniture we made the decision to keep it “Canadian Made” and decided to purchase
the sofa through our local furniture store in S. Delta B.C. and stick with Decor -Rest. What a mistake this was !!!
We purchased and ordered the leather sofa style 3855 on June 20, 2018. Our choice selection was made from a catalogue; rather limited as a few sofa styles in leather were already being phased out . We were assured by the owner of the store of the high quality of the leather that Decor-Rest used. We spent over $ 2,400. 00 for this condo sofa. The sofa was delivered on July 24th. It was only after sitting on it that we realized how uncomfortable and slippery the leather was…to the point that it was impossible to sit relaxed on it without sliding down and off the sofa. We tried to rationalize that it would take time to adjust to the texture of leather but unfortunately it has not been the case. The texture of the leather felt more like plastic than quality leather. We contacted the owner of the store and expressed our disappointment. We were asked us to follow up with an e-mail to Decor-Rest manufacturer to explain in detail the reasons for our dissatisfaction with their leather sofa. . Their response was that there was nothing wrong with the style of the sofa and /or the leather. Needless we were outraged ! Following this response from Decor-Rest numerous conversations took place with the owner of the store; the only solution offered to us was they were willing to take the custom made sofa back with a restocking fee equal to 50 % of the purchase price. We knew by then that we couldn’t be happy with this sofa in our home and decided to accept the offer from the store. The sofa was then picked up and as a result we found ourselves without a sofa and a shortfall of $1229.00 . Tough lesson to learn for retired people who wanted to encourage a local business and keep it “CANADIAN MADE”.
RECOMMENDATION DO NOT BUY LEATHER FURNITURE FROM DECOR-REST
Sir: Unfortunately this suggestion wasn't offered to us following our complaint dated September 12, 2018 which was forwarded to you from the retail store . Here is the reply that was received by one of your staff members.

Good morning,
We have been selling the Visa leather for over 3 years now.
Slippery leather is not a manufacturer defect.
Here is the information on Visa latte:
EUROPEAN RAW HIDES

NOT A VERY SATISFACTORY REPLY AFTER SPENDING $2458. 00 FOR A CONFO SOFA.
As I mentioned previously , we are no longer in possession of the sofa. We reluctantly returned the item to the retail store, accepting the term of the contract of a restocking fee equal to 50% of the purchase price of $2458.00
WITHOUT A DOUBT A VERY TOUGH FINANCIAL LESSON!
