Good family operation....

Jan 25, 2014
We hired Nick's for a large millwork project. The original work's quality was good and we were very happy with it. After several months we decided to modify one of the counter tops. It's a 12 foot long section with a 90 degree return halfway through it. Simple job. Remove the old counter (20 woodscrews and a couple of dog-bones on the counter joint), build and new one and install it. They quoted us $3688 plus an additional $450 to send someone out and remeasure the counter top. Really? They built it and want to remeasurement it now? The exact claim is that they need to check for damage. I can assure anyone that there is no damage. And, reagarding the measurements, they should have the shop drawings for the entire counter. I know they do as I have a copy of them as well. I have since had 2 other companies quote on the same work and the highest price I got is $1150 to build and install the new counter top. Very telling isn`t it? I would advise anyone looking for cabinet work at a realistic cost to avoid this company all together.
