If I could give this business a 0 I would have. Very, very, very poor communication by their showroom staff. I picked out "what I thought" were handrails" from their show room. We discussed how we were replacing an existing handrail in an older condo. They never mentioned to me or the contractor that I dragged there with me, that what we saw in the show room was NOT the product that we were going to get. When I received it, all I got was the lumber to build a hand rail making me wonder why I went there when I could have picked up a finished product at a lumber store. Now I have to find a "finishing carpenter" to take a router to all the boards to make a smooth handrail out of lumber with square unfinished edges. So, so, so, so, disappointed! I thought I was going to a professional company and boy do I feel ripped off. If they aren't going to tell you that what you see is NOT what you get, then they should at least have sign in their showroom to advise they only sell lumber and the show room products are really only for SHOW. If they don't tell you and they don't have a sign indicating, how is a person to know this? Read their minds???? When I told them what I had expected rather than an apology their worker says "We are not an IKEA, you know!!!" This company might be OK if you are a finishing carpenter and understand that, but definitely would not recommend them to the general public.
UPDATE: Following this review I received a call from Arland expressing his concern over the poor Google review I gave them and looking to make some kind of restitution. I certainly understand his concern and appreciated the call back. However, there was a woman in the background who was intent on giving me information on the difference between lumber and what I received and what "always" happens when taking a customer order rather than listening to what "really" occurred. I attempted to explain that what "always" happens didn't in my case and the review is my "opinion" of the service I received. That's really what a Google Review is. She told me my "opinion" was wrong. I'm not sure how that can be as it is my "opinion" based on "my" experience and not based on their normal protocol.
So today they told me that they "could have" finished the edges for me (as I had expected them to be) if I had asked when I picked them up. Well, my contractor picked them up while I was out of town and I did go back in as soon as I saw the lumber (yesterday) to discuss the issue. However, the show room person didn't advise me of that and she certainly made no attempt to resolve my issue but rather talked to me like it was my fault and I should have known what I was ordering wasn't a finished product. It took a poor review for them to come forward with that information and the offer of restitution.
The offer stands, that they will finish off the edges to my satisfaction if I bring all that lumber back into their shop and wait for the hour or so that it will take for them to do it right away AND they will do it at no charge.
So I am happy to say they did attempt to make amends. A sign of a responsible business.
