I ordered 50 sheets of hardibacker, paid to have it shipped to Galiano Island only to find it all warped and damaged from water. The manager claimed it was normal and that it would be fine once it was tightened down. Clearly the manager didn't know the first thing about tiling or customer service. I ended up returning it and purchasing perfectly flat and consistent product from Home Depot. It is a shame when you can't support a Canadian business because of their utter ineptitude.

The "new" Slegg is pathetic compared to the old one ever since being bought out by WSB Titan. Service has plummeted and prices have risen sharply. No one seems to care and when I bring a better price in asking them to match it my main sales guy basically says buy it there then. They don't care about customers or their contractor accounts. Every contractor I know says the same thing all over Victoria and I know many who have reduced their purchases by 95%. I basically use Slegg now for price checking and occasionally they have better prices, but its rare and also for convenience if they are close for small purchases. Its also worth checking out Home Depot and Lowes, many of their prices are cheaper. An example Slegg wanted $30 for boxes of drywall mud and I got them at Lowes for under $17! If they do reply to this ad show contractors that they matter and maybe you will get a taste of the $50k a month I used to spend there, its now less than 2k per month

As a regular customer at Slegg Lumber I thought I would share a few things that have recently opened my eyes to the unbelievable greed and falling quality under the new ownership. Slegg was recently selling boxes of firewood for $6 near the check out kiosk, the next day I come in and the same boxes of firewood have had there 6$ crossed out and replaced with $6.49 to keep pace with rising lumber costs. I guess I should mention it was on 20 boxes netting an extra ten bucks for the shareholders! Today I purchased 50 PET(precision end trimmed ) studs for my project and was miffed to find that 40 of the studs were more than 1/2” too long! We ended up having to take two walls apart to correct them and pass the materials back from the third floor of the house to return them. Prices go up and quality goes down, disappointingly they are nickel and diming like you wouldn’t believe. I will say however that the staff is top notch.
