It absolutely blew me away that this place is still in existence. I remember shopping at Ribtor with my grandpa 40yrs ago when it was on 11ave. We bought shovels, squirrel traps, roofing nails, canvas tarps, barn hinges, cast iron pots, fuses and for a treat I got a chrome whistle. It seemed like there was no end to the possibilities in this store.

What a really cool place, I could spend days in there looking around filling a shopping cart. Really friendly folk there too.

Huge plug for a place that needs some seriously big love . Really though they have a Porta potty set up inside !!! That's a hard to find thing ! Piles of junk with some real hidden treasures.

I can absolutely recommend Ribtor. I took my family there because I stumbled across their website. I was looking for nothing in particular but the items listed on the website caught my attention. After walking through the main door I didn't expect much; however I was pleasantly surprised as my eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store after having visited a toy store just minutes prior. The warehouse is huge with all sorts of awesome things stacked in shelves. You'll find anything from army surplus items to tools, electrical items, old machines toys, fishing gear, etc. I would suggest going there with an open mind as it might be hard finding something in particular among all the awesome items in the shelves. Plan to spend a little time there to see everything. It is dusty but if you imagine your parents/grandparent's basement/attic with all sorts of cool things then you'll be able to imagine what this place is like. I picked up an old electric motor for a project but saw so many things that caught my eye. Definitely check it out.

Vivid memories from my childhood caused me to seek out this store. It was always a fascinating visit to the downtown store over the years, where countless bargains on surplus merchandise could be had on every visit. But perhaps it was the spiralling land values, that it moved out of downtown and into the oldest neighborhood in Calgary, named Inglewood. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I found very little there that interested me, and I got the impression that most of the stock is comprised of what didn't sell at the old location years ago. The 3 attendants never looked up from the computer they were all silently huddled around during the entire time of my visit. I left, thinking I would probably not return for a long time.
