I love this place. They hardware you need for a variety of jobs, and knowledgeable people to get you just what you need to complete said job. It reminds me of an old fashion hardware store where they sell you just one screw or one washer, if that's all you need. Of course you may pay a bit more than at a large warehouse type store, where they sell you most everything in sets, but the friendly, helpful sales people are always right there when you need them. If you need or like personalized service, this is the place for you.

Can't beat the helpfulness and friendlyness they offer here. If you need something try here's Forest please don't goto the other guys on eight Mile. Not that I have anything against the big box stores, not these two in this location are not kept up at all. Gilbert's is awesome. They can match you any paint at all to whatever you bring in and they're just so damn helpful all the time. Can't say enough good things about the quality of items and service here.

ALWAYS friendly, helpful & knowledgeable about what customers need, no matter what the issue or problem! They always seem to have the up-to-date item that solves your problem, & if they don't they refer you to a place who does! The old "corner hardware" idea, but in the 21st century. Yep, 5 stars for sure!! (& they always remember your name) Thank you!!

I must say, this is by FAR the best hardware store I’ve ever stepped foot in. I recently just moved to St. Clair Shores from Minneapolis. I’m a 1st time homeowner, so I don’t know much. I walked in looking for a few items, and walked out with a bit of knowledge! I spoke with Blair about a few different things. Everyone there seemed VERY knowledgeable! Gilbert’s hardware is the exact type of place I want to live near, and fortunately for me I’m about a 1/2 mile away! I highly recommend this shop, and can’t wait to visit again!

Best hardware store in town. They have every answer imaginable for any type of work you’re doing. You might pay more than the bigger stores, but the service is well worth it.
