I had a very good experience of consulting Shades of Home in their Oakville location when I needed blinds, curtains and drapes on various windows of my new apartment. Hilary was very easy to deal with and took time to show and explain the various types of blinds I could use for both light and heat limitation on my west-facing windows. The installation also went very smoothly with Ben. They have hundreds of sample materials for curtains and drapes and Hilary was very patient as I went through many of them. I'd recommend this business without hesitation.

My husband found extremely good review from Houzz on this company and we decided to drive all the way from Toronto downtown to visit their show room in Oakville today and oh boy what a great disappointment. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by their specialist. She wasn’t particularly friendly, but wasn’t rude either, just answered my questions with matter of fact and minimal to zero smile. We asked if they offer free home consultation as advertised on their website, she asked the location of my new home and after I told her, she said “oh we don’t offer free home consultation because we find that people living in that area tend to go to cheaper places and we are not cheap ... (she emphasized on this few times”. Felt very uncomfortable with the condescendingness in her tone. Continued with few questions and again she answered with matter of fact and zero smile. Did not ask any questions about my new home other than the location of it. Also asked if they offer design services and again she answered yes but comes with cost. At this point, we got the hint that we are too “cheap” for her and left the store. Definitely would not recommend this place even if they do deliver exceptional quality as customer service was just horrible. I have never dealt with someone who was so blunt in telling us that we “cannot” afford their product. Lol already told my future neighbors to avoid this place cause clearly in their eyes we are the #cheapneighborhood
