It was nice and clean in there and all the staff were very friendly. Now I come from Edmonton where you can go in all the rooms that the cats are in and pet them freely. So it was very different coming here and having every single door locked. So I think maybe some slight changes in that regard would be nice. Even if their cages were locked and people could still see them up close. So don't go there expecting to be able to play with all of the animals or see them up close without first tracking down someone who isn't busy with ten other people so they can let you in to see an animal here and there.

#1 Best Way To Adopt/Find Your New Family Member! We are so impressed with the care and concern showed by the CHS during our adoption process. All of the support and encouragement a family could ask for as our new cat transitioned from surrender to foster to foster to us! Our cat Cinders is settling in beautifully after only 1 week she is the new Boss Kitten!

Staff and availability of what you're looking for are all here. Some staff more knowledgeable than others. Some staff friendlier than others. I'm really happy with the animals I have adopted from here. What I can't stand however, is how it feels like they try to nickel and dime for a lot of things--- and I almost feel like it's not about taking care of my new family member (animal), but rather-- selling off the "used" pets.

Went in yesterday to look at the dogs they had available, found one adorable and young shepherd/husky and asked one lady about her, since she was on hold. She told us that the hold would be falling through the next day, so that we should come back the next day. We check online this morning to see if she's still available and she is, no hold, so we plan on being there right at noon. We arrive at 12:15 and there's one couple who get there right at 12, and they got the dog. "They were here before you"... uhhh we were here yesterday! And we checked online this morning, and we called this morning and there was no answer, just a voicemail saying to leave a message. So what's the complaint? Your employees need to tell people to fill out paperwork if that's what's considered "being here first," because my wife had her heart set on that dog and we were willing to bring her home yesterday if she hadn't been on hold. New policy, or better trained employees. You have very few dogs available so you would probably think to train your employees mention the rules when people are being told to come back the next day.

I appreciate the good that the humane society does for the community, however my recent experience was disturbing. My wife and I went in to adopt our foster dog and the adoption team was spreading some very deeply misguided information regarding the health of companion animals. Their recommendations and misconceptions about the prevalence of communicable diseases and vaccinations was particularly irresponsible. There was serious communication faults, and a few other things that made us weary, but what truly concerned me during the appointment was this: "No rescue here can afford or will give rabies vaccines, it's too much of a hassle with all the paperwork. We don't have rabies here anyways, and most dogs are indoors so they wouldn't get it." "We don't vaccinate for kennel cough since most dogs will get it anyways" Knowing that almost ALL rescues in this area vaccinate because it is the responsible thing to do, please talk to your veterinarian directly about any concerns or information you have to assure validity. These diseases are deadly and should not be taken lightly. Please ensure your family, pets, and neighbors, stay safe by vaccinating according to standard core vaccination guidelines as recommended by your family veterinarian. I used to recommend them! They have so much potential to do good in the community! It's quite disappointing. As an update: "We vaccinate for many diseases" Well no, you don't if you only vaccinate for 1 out of 3 core vaccines and no additional diseases. That's less than 33% last I checked. One, is not many.
