I was delighted when a local pet store opened near my home, but I am never going there again. I am actively searching for a reasonably priced healthly dog food for my senior dogs. Two different ladies served me and both were young, know-it-all snots. One lady had the audacity to tell me that veterinarians don't know anything about pet food, they only push the brands that they sell. She also told me that none of the reviews anywhere are dependable. I don't take them as the gospel, but do find that a critical perusal of a number of different reviews gives the customer a useful guideline to use in conjunction with other criteria. Last week, I bought some product that my dogs liked, but was actively seeking a different one for my more senior dog. As I was a little rushed, when I got home I discovered that she sold me a $6 can of food for my perfectly healthy dog. I would gladly pay the $6 if there was a medical reason, but would do so on the recommendation of my vet, and not a pet food salesperson. Today, I went to return it with the appropriate sales slip, and had to insist that she refund as opposed give me a store credit. Normally, I would not have any problem with a store credit, but I have no intention of going in this place again. I will deal with the parking issues for The Doghouse on Duckworth Street, or reluctantly shop at national chain. Every other 'high end' pet shop that I have patronized actually make it clear that they will accept opened food if your pet doesn't like it. Sorry byes, but you lost the the owner of six pets who happens to live in the neighbourhood, and prefers to shop at local businesses.

Beautiful store, awesome products and super helpful staff. My kitty gets everything she needs here! And the fact that this place is local makes it even better!
