I brought my dog to the salon for a wash and clean up. It was the first time I had been there so they asked me if my dog had any hypo allergenic reactions. I told them he has never had any reactions. I mentioned to them that I had not had good experiences previously and to please be extra careful when grooming my dog around the groin area. It wasn’t until I got home that I saw his groin area which was very red and obviously was shaved too short, causing redness and discomfort. I called the salon and spoke to them about this they asked me to bring my dog back in. I drove back and the owner looked at him and said he must’ve had some sort of reaction and to just go and buy some Milk of Magnesia and dab it on him and he should be fine within 24 hours. Over 48 hours has passed and he is still in discomfort, constantly trying to lick the redness. I have been applying the milk of magnesia (Which I had to buy for $10.00) and it does not seem to be helping. I would have thought that the owner may have called me the next day to see how my dog was doing, which she did not. I also thought somebody may have apologized, which nobody did. I will not be returning to the salon and suggest that you think twice before taking your pet there.

I took an old, very badly matted, rescue cat to Paw Prints. At first the groomer Manuela thought he was so badly matted he would need sedation and to be groomed at a vet’s clinic. Because it was so hot, and he was obviously very uncomfortable, she was persuaded to try shaving and grooming him – on the clear understanding she would stop if he showed signs of stress. Manuela was so gentle and reassuring with him that she managed the entire job without a nick or error of any sort. This old cat now has the best Lion Cut I have ever seen – and I have seen quite a few! If I could I would give Paw Prints Salon in Pickering more than 5 stars. They certainly are outstanding!

I’ve had the pleasure of being a part Pawprints family my whole life. Any groomer that has been taught by Manuela goes through hours of rigorous training in all aspects of grooming including: how to groom nervous/ fearful dogs keeping your pets health and safety as a top priority, identifying coat/ skin issues and choosing the right products for your pet to look and feel their best, notifying you of any possible health concerns that should be talked about with your vet, accurate breed specific trims to enhance and perfect your pets conformation and the ability to transform your pet of any breed or mix from rags to riches. We attended seminars and workshops to keep all grooming knowledge current with the changing years. Your pets comfort always comes first here but they strive to make sure you are happy as well. They’re easy to talk to if you have any issues ( Keep in mind that groomers don’t know there’s an issue unless you tell them ;) ) and they are always happy to pass on some information about coat care at home. I can honestly say this was the best shop I’ve ever worked for and I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to have years of knowledge passed down to me from THE best groomer/business owner. Unfortunately my family had decided to move far North and I no longer work at Pawprints. Though I miss it like crazy, I was given the courage and skill to be able to confidently branch out on my own and pass some of my knowledge to my colleagues. A business doesn’t stay open for 30 years for no reason, these ladies know their stuff and I can assure you that they will do their very best to make your pet have the best spa day!
