I just want to start off by saying that I’m an employee here. I think most of you get the wrong idea that we don’t care for our animals but we do, and it’s very insulting that people think we don’t just because they come in when we are in the process of cleaning. Cleaning a whole store full of animals isn’t a half hour job it’s takes ALL DAY. Having to clean and deal with some rather interesting customers at the same time delays the process of cleaning, so don’t be so quick to judge, it IS being cleaned. Also I would like to address the one review where a lady said I followed her around the store and she thought I was going to kidnap her, I’ve never laughed so hard! I’m a 19 year old girl trying to make a living so I can feed myself, so having to feed and keep another human a secret isn’t something I’m interested in and would never be interested in. If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to come up to me, my name is Lexy! I want everybody to feel welcome and have a good experience when they enter our store.

I recently went to Pet Central for the first time and it’s very underwhelming. The first thing that occurs is you are hit by the horrible odour. It’s so bad, I had to hold my hand over my nose for a few minutes. WTH? You can’t clean it properly? Hire someone to do it if you’re not able or too lazy. Other Pet Stores manage cleanliness so don’t blame it on anything but neglect. I was looking for a Parakeet and they had two big filthy cages of different birds that I looked at with one salesgirl in the store. The cages were baron without a toy or anything for these poor birds to enjoy. The bottom was covered in feces and it stunk so bad, it made your eyes water. I ended up buying 2 birds and felt more like I was saving them, rather than purchasing them. I also purchased a cage and that too had to be scrubbed clean with vinegar and water because it was thick with dirt and dust. At the time, I didn’t realize that Pet Smart sells birds too and the difference is like day and night. Try there before going anywhere else, “Please”. Had I realized, I would of gone there first. Pet Smarts birds are just a couple dollars more and they’re so well kept with toys, the cages are immaculate, birds all look happy and chirping etc... “Absolutely NO bad odour” and Friendly staff I bought my two Parakeets some nice toys and exercise gadgets to make up for their sad lives up until I saved them. They are both happier now and enjoy playing with everything. I wish I could of saved all the birds at Pet Central. Terrible way to do business and I am surprised they are able to continue to be in business in these conditions. To: Pet Central: If you think all Pet Stores smell (as your salesgirl told me) take a walk into Pet Valu or Pet Smart. Also, why not take the time that you spend replying to people’s reviews and maybe do some healthy cleaning throughout the entire store. (;

Went back after giving a 1 star rating, yup still a 1 star rating. Horrible store, still stinks, animals don't look well taken care of. I feel terrible for their animals. Nice girl working, but it's owned by middle eastern people who are super cheap. Paid $12 for 100 crickets apparently. Too overpriced. Animals are half dead. This store is the definition of Oshawa, it's definately Oshawa's armpit.

Considering all the other bad reviews, I should have never gone. As someone who genuinely cares about animals, the owner does not. He simply cares about making money and not about the animals welfare that are in his care. Pathetic and sad really. As a business owner, he should not personally be attacking his customers on google reviews, but he should be apologizing and trying to correct his actions. If profit is the only thing you care about your company will never succeed.

Love this place. They care about their animals. Take time to answer questions and they know their birds. Everytime me and my daughter go we have a positive experience.
