I tried to use dog buddy recently. I read on the web site the cancellation policy and it seemed trustworthy for the pet owners. However the actual application of the policy is much more relaxed than it is presented in the policy. Dog sitters can cancel even last minute with minimal to no repercussions.

Sitters, don't use this app. They don't care to cover damage caused by the dogs you sit in your own home because it's "your responsibility". Support team didn't help me at all, when I said the owner refuses to pay for the damages. Very disappointed. Don't give them your business. We deserve better. (updated) Contrary to what they claim, damage caused by a dog cannot always be predicted and it should be the owners responsibility for the damages caused, not the sitters! If the company don't care to protect sitters, they shouldn't complain if we don't use their app anymore, and try to make it look like it's *our* fault. Their entire stance on this issue is beyond ridiculous.

Lots of local sitters/walkers available locally at reasonable prices (although the 'service charge' added to each and every booking means you pay more than the advertised amount on each sitter's page!). All those contacted responded and I was able to meet them with my dog before deciding on who to book with. This gave both the sitter and I an opportunity to see if we felt the arrangement would work. I would not recommend anyone leave their dog with someone who they haven't met/seen the premises before booking! It's an easy to use service, but the service fees are quite high per booking (around 7%) - don't forget to include them in your budget.

Great site for finding local dog sitters, tells you who is available for your dates and reviews from other customers. Arrange to meet them so you know your dog will be happy with the carer and the environment is right for them.
