Chocpaw is a wonderful organization who cares for their dogs and their clients. You will have an amazing time learning how to mush, feed and care for the dogs. You will learn to collect firewood and water, sleep in a wood-stove heated tent. You will get to see the beauty of Algonquin park all while being supported by a caring and experienced guide. The dogs will truly steal your heart! Best part is (after you fall in love with all the dogs) you can meet all of the retired sled dogs who are looking for a new home to spend their retirement.

I recently visited Chocpaw and I was absolutely blown away by the love and attention the beautiful dogs receive by the staff and volunteers. The staff know every little detail about the dogs down to their mannerisms, likes, dislikes, I’ve never been anything like it. With my short week there I was able to observe the life there and it is a 7 day a week operation around the clock. The volunteers and staff work there because they fall in love with the dogs (as anyone would, Eagle was my favourite 😍) and they love to share experiences with these amazing animals with the public. I am an animal lover and it has broken my heart to see some people bully the company based on false accusations. I urge those people to call and come see the place, meet and staff and meet the dogs for themselves. To the Chocpaw staff, the passion you have for your work is incredible and I am so happy I was able to meet you all and see what an amazing you do for the dogs and for the community. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic experience. Staff were excellent, the equipment was in great shape, and the weekend was very well structured. Chocpaw looked after every little detail; the weekend by far exceeded our expectations. Jeremy, our guide, was superb! What is particularly great about this experience is that you get to do so much of the work with the dogs. You have lots to do around camp, and get to learn all about how these dogs are cared for. Despite being a tradition for hundreds of years, some people really struggle with preconceived notions of how these dogs live- go check it out, and you will see how much these dogs with jobs love what they do! Will definitely be back!

DONT GO HERE! INVESTIGATING ANIMAL ABUSE! These dogs are chained from May to October in high heat, rain, storms you name it. Absolutely disgusting, get a proper shelter for these dogs. They don’t get proper food or water. Don’t support this business.

Not sure why this company has positive reviews. I remember going by their property and HUNDREDS of dogs were on short chains chained to 45 gallon drums. The lives these dogs lead are horrific. The sight of the dogs chained this way has been burned in my mind forever. I will NEVER dog sled. Absolutely horrible! Should be illegal!
