Our mum was a resident at Streamway Villa for 8 months before she recently passed. My dad and ourselves were able to visit her regularly and observed and interacted with the caring, helpful and jovial staff members. They cared compassionately for her in her last few weeks and kept us well informed as to her care and condition. It is an aging facility but the staff inside those walls are wonderful.

My ex husband was placed in Streamway Villa quite a few years ago as it was the first available bed found. I remember thinking it was not the most beautiful facility but was thankful to have had him placed somewhere at a desperate time. I soon found out that the walls and decor have nothing to do with the home and what it offers. Streamway Villa has a staff of nurses, PSWs, doctor, cooks, administrators, cleaning staff etc that have shown nothing but a consistent level of care and support that I have not seen in other facilities that I have encountered through experiences with other family members. I have never in all the years had trouble reaching staff when needed, and they always promptly help with my concerns. I have seen my ex, and the other residents treated with care and compassion and always felt the residents were seen and heard. With all that can be said about how people can be treated badly in long term care facilities, I have never seen or experienced improper behavior at Streamway. With the job of caring for our elderly, most of whom are both physically or mentally failing, I feel the staff do their extremely taxing job wonderfully. I am thankful Streamway was the facility where the first bed was available.

I thought I must comment because of the previous review. We just had to move my Mother-in-law in to Streamway a short while ago, and we are very pleased. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they are doing. The staff also try to keep the patients busy and entertained with crafts and activities. As for the "aura of death" comment, it is what it is. These elderly people are not coming out or going to get better. This will be their last home and their best days are behind them. They are just trying to be made comfortable. Al K.

I feel I must answer the 'aura of death' commenter. My father recently moved into this home. I chose it for the cheerful, clean, first-floor, open-plan location with big windows and a lovely garden - definitely not depressing, and I toured several other homes before opting for this one. I also chose Streamway because I could see and sense that the residents were well looked after (many staff have worked there for decades), there were activities going on when i visited, there were staff milling about attentively. I have not been disappointed so far. The staff are indeed caring, and my mother (a nurse for 40 years) was so impressed she had me pass on compliments. I really doubt the person posting a negative review has had any dealings with elderly, frail relatives, let alone Streamway Villa - his spiteful review isn't even close to my direct experience of this residence so far. (It's a pity that because of a troubling and likely false review, this professionally-run long-term-care residence only scores 4 stars with Google, despite those of us who actually have relatives there posting 5 stars across the board).

My aunt stayed and was cared for very well. Christina McNeil She loved the staff. And was treated with respect and dignity. Thank you all. Keep caring. Mark Watson.
