Cannot say enough about this place. Watched a lover one spend last few years of her life here. Staff members are kind compassionate and caring not only your the residents but to the families as well. Parking is free ( Yes Free! One less thing to worry about) There are daily activities that vary in levels according to what the resident is able to do such as manicures, therapy animals, 1 on 1 visits, spiritual time, choir, greenhouse, painting and the list goes on. Security measures in place ( codes required to enter elevators and open any outside doors or to gain access to the building). During a loved ones final days they have what's called an "End of Life" Basket. This part was outstanding. I have seen palliative care before but never seen such a great idea. Books and magazines for the families. Crossword puzzles, Journals to write in, CDs with soft /spiritual music for the patients bedside, toiletry items for the families who stay at the bedside ( tooth brushes, combs, etc.) Plus the snacks the staff offered us during a time we were afraid to leave our loved one for even a moment to go and grab dinner etc. The staff of Saugeen Valley Nursing Center will always have a special place in our hearts for their kindness and strength that guided us through such a difficult time
