This Recovery Centre is definitely one of the best in the country! The counsellor's and staff really take the time to identify exactly what treatment goals I needed to set. Assisting and guiding me with the right set of tools and teaching needed to succeed. It's been an uncomfortably comfortable journey-

Absolutely best Recovery/treatment center. Good food, great counsellors, routine and schedule is key and really helps, good CSW’s. I won’t lie though, unfortunately there is a handful of workers that are not suit for the job. They are not understanding, judgemental, cannot keep their personal life/experience separate from their job, uptight, etc. But the workers that do understand and have a past similar to clients, are beyond amazing. Many of them touched my heart and my life in ways I could have never imagined. I will forever remember them.

All together great experience. The strict rules, busy schedule and heavy workload kept me accountable and challenged in order to educate and arm me with the tools that are needed and prepare to face the challenges of life after discharge, which i feel is a huge necessity. The staff is firm but friendly and fair. I loved the programming and found it to be well ordered and effective. I can't thank them enough for their help to give me a chance at a better life. Extremely grateful!

Staff super friendly. Counsellors know what they are doing. Some seemed a little young but still new what they were talking about. food was good (serve way to much chicken but it all tasted good coffee a little weak for my tastes) The Rec was awesome. They keep you very busy the days fly by.

I feel compelled to write again about my experience at Thorpe after reading the negative reviews. While I respect we each are entitled to our own opinion, I also believe willingness and true desire for recovery are necessary componants for a more likely positive outcome. While Thorpe is a caring and compassionate place, they do not treat you with kid gloves or apply special exceptions to rules just because you think you deserve more than others. If that is your expectation, or that you can do whatever you want, then no, this is not the place for you. Most of the fellow clients I stayed with were serious about their recovery and while some found the rules overly restrictive at first, they quickly became the greatest supporters. I found an attitude of gratitude, rather than hostility, yielded greater benefits from the program. The administrative and counselling staff is highly trained and effective. I'm not sure if it is by design, but the different personalities, strategies used, and interpersonal skills of the counselors proved to be highly effective for me. I could relate to everyone a bit differently and There was always at least one staff I could connect with. Personally I can't recommend Thorpe highly enough for a real chance at recovery. I know many fellow Thorpians who would agree.
