This park within Castlegar is worth a visit. It features a 473' long suspension bridge to access the island (though there is a road entrance you can walk for those who prefer). This small park has been an important place for thousands of years, and is a quiet, beautiful place to visit. There is a scenic walking path around the island where you can view the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers. There are Lakes Salish Indian winter pit house sites, who used used the island as a base from at least 2000 years ago to recent times. Also, there is a Russian Chapel house, built by Alexander Zuckerberg in 1935 (admission by donation). There are picnic tables and benches on the island to pause or enjoy lunch.

A really cool place to explore and one of the few I have found that speaks of the first nation culture in the area. The wonderful museum curator spoke of the culture that existed on the islands prior to the Zuckerberg family history which was greatly appreciated. The remnants of the pit houses dating back 3500 years were an extra special treat.

Nice natural park. Not a lot of people either. Great views of the Columbia river.

It's Free admission, just a historical park you walk through and see some fun sites. Not very hands on or really interactive though. Beautiful water view though.

Beautiful little area, I've been coming here since I was super young. This is a wonderful place to have a picnic, meet up with some friends, check out the history of one of our main attractions, or just enjoy the scenery!
