This is a hydro pump station. Steep stairs lead down to a rocky, wet shoreline that is often slippery and treacherous. Great spot if stairs are ok for you. Not good for kids...too many areas to break an ankle. Popular with locals for sunsets and views of ocean.

One of Nanaimo's best dog parks, little known to even locals because of its location. You access it via a flight of stairs at the end of a short gated service road for storm sewers. Once you're on the beach, the crisp smell of ocean air replaces the wafting odor from the access trail, and you feel like you're not even in town anymore. There's lots of room for dogs to explore when the tide is out, too.
