The Sandon Museum had only a couple of open buildings. It is still an interesting site to visit. Only the museum building had a reasonable entry fee. Powerhouse is free. There are also several buses on the site to look at an old train engine. Check out the antiques to purchase and get some ice cream while you're there. If continuing on to Idaho Peak, you don't need a 4x4. Roads are passable with a decent vehicle. A low car might bottom out at a couple points and you will need to squeeze to the side when you meet other cars on the road.

We went to sandon expecting a fully abandoned town but actually got an awesome museum and explorable property. The abandoned silver mine was beautiful and the museum and power station we're super cool. 100% worth checking out if you're in the area, the staff were very freindly and I just can't state enough how gorgeous the site was. A bit of a drive off the highway but so worth. If you're a fan of old machinery sandon should definitely excited you as well, as there is a lot of them there.

What a cool little hidden gem! Veda at the shop and Campbell at the Hydro station both are full of great historic knowledge. Great people, neat discovery. Check it out if you can, also Idaho peak is just past and I will be checking that out when the snow melts.

This is a rally cool place. Great spot to relax and learn by the river. 90 minutes is a good amount of time to see everything

Learned lots of great BC history of the silver/lead mining town! Enjoyed an ice cream cone at the little store and chatted with a local full of knowledge!
