I came here with my wife and 2 children (1 year old and 3 year old). Kids under 4 go free, so it cost around $26 for all of us to enter. That’s a really reasonable price for the quality of this visit. The butterfly greenhouse is great, there are so many exotic species of butterflies fluttering around in the warm environment, our toddler was so excited to be so close to them. The spider exhibit on the top floor was great, not a lot of spiders but a great selection. I’m a spider fan so I enjoyed seeing them up close. The middle floor has a great selection of bugs, with staff on hand to provide some interesting facts and even handle some of the insects. The bee hive and any exhibits are incredible, we all enjoyed looking at the busy little creatures. There is a little kids area too, which entertained them no end. The entire place is clean and well kept, and the staff are enthusiastic and clearly enjoy working here. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Deer Lake, we plan on coming back next tome we’re here.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Extremely interesting displays, with a good selection of pinned as well as live specimens. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and often eager to help. We were approached several times with offers to hold some of the safer specimens and just for general information too! Wait time wasn't bad at all, we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and we were in immediately. Gift shop is cute, but also has incredible variety. The butterfly garden is breathtaking, very very hot and humid, but almost magical. 10/10 do recommend.

The workers are super nice and knowledgeable of the bugs they have. You can even hold some of the bugs they have there on display with is awesome. The gift shop there is very large with many cool, different items you can buy so you can remember your trip. The butterfly room is my favorite part. To get to see alot types and kinds of butterflies just flying around and having a chance to see them up close, some will even land on you! They also have ice cream and a dog kennel for you to put your pup I while visiting

Stayed in Deer Lake while on vacation in NL and visited the Insectarium. They have a very interesting display of different insects including live ones and they let you hold some amazing specimen. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed it.

Newfoundland Insectarium convinces with its numerous living butterflies on the ground floor, its bees and similar insects on the first floor and its spiders on the second floor. There is also a huge gift shop at the entrance. Staff is friendly and helpful. However, the entrance fee of thirteen dollars is slightly elevated for what you get. On a side note, check out the wonderful hiking trails behind the building.
