The hiking area is great considering how close to the city it is. After completing the Ash Lake loop and adventuring in the other areas, we saw a mix of well maintained trails and other spots with no signage and overgrown brush. There is a map of the park at each intersection to ensure you go the right way, but some signs are a faded. The stops along the lakes boast fantastic views and the terrain isn’t very difficult. I’d like to see proper parking in the north west corner of the map, we stopped in a cul-de-sac on Collins Rd. I’m really happy we found this spot close to the city for a half-day hike, despite the lack of trail blazes and parking.

Awesome view worth the walk. Poster in the forest is about 10 minutes from the view. Worthy of action

What wonderful trails. We walked through the power lines for a lot of our hikes so we didn't expect to see anything interesting. Wow, were we surprised. The photos I have posted is a gem of a find we discovered on the southern tip of Ash Lake, near the stream, when we were coming in from the southern Crane Lake. We spent 7 hours all together on these trails one day, and several more several other days, and we didn't even come close to covering the whole area. Definitely hope to be back.

Love the trails, the terrain, everything! Good options for various loop hikes, or in and back, beautiful woods, views of the lake, varied terrain. Quiet, far back enough from the roads you don't get a lot of noise. It's great all around!

Lots of looped trail options. Well signed as well so you won't get lost.
