I stayed in Kerenya with a friend for ten days; 20th to 30th of October. We had a good time. The weather was great and we ate some lovely food from various restaurants. Nazir's was a favourite! We hired a car and visited 'The Panhandle' and some places along the way. On another trip we drove towards the boarder, stopping on our way back to view a beautiful reservoir. We swam off Golden Beach and Turtle Beach. All of these places were spoilt by the amount of rubbish dumped there. Turtle Beach Was strewn with blue plastic bottle tops - too many to count. And can anyone tell me who gives permission for a factory to be built, spewing out smoke, in view of a place of natural beauty? Kerenya harbour is lovely and very picturesque; but stray beyond, and Kerenya is a sprawling scruffy mess of unfinished, half built hotels and housing. This impression was repeated everywhere we drove. With a backbone of beautiful scenery N Cyprus must once have been a fantastic holiday destination. It was described to me as the unspoilt side of the island. Not any more! What hope is there if it's own people are spoiling it! I would not go back! Come on N Cyprus, clean up your act.
