This "business" is located in a residence whose yard and stairs were, on the day I ventured to try it, covered with children's toys, shoes, and sporting equipment. It appears, from the state of the yard, to be a home daycare, and at first I thought I had come to the wrong address. Only once I had climbed the front stairs (dodging two pairs of shoes and several plastic toys) did I see the small sticker on the mailbox indicating "Laserfix". Beside the mailbox were some plastic bags and a form to be completed and, presumably, dropped into the box along with my eyeglasses. Since I wanted to know whether this business would be able to repair the break in a plastic frame (which I had been told by three different optical dispensaries could not be repaired except by someone specialising in such work and equipped with the right tools), I wanted to ask and to determine whether there was any point to my dropping off my glasses. In addition, I did not have a pen with which to fill out the form, nor was there a suitable surface on which to write had I had anything to write with. I therefore rang the doorbell, and a young woman with a child on her hip and another clinging to her leg, as well as a telephone to her ear, looked at me through the screen door, which she did not open, and told me to fill in the form and put the glasses in the box. When I said I wanted to know first whether the repair was possible, and said that I would have to borrow a pen to fill in the form, she said, "Well, I'm not the owner of this business, and I don't have time to stand here being harassed at the door." She resumed her telephone conversation and turned away. I once again negotiated the toy-and-shoe-littered stairs and left. This "business" is NOT open 8:00-5:00 (or, it would appear, at all, at least in its Winnipeg location). Given the attitude of the person who answered the door, and her apparent lack of concern for anything resembling service to potential customers, I would recommend giving Laserfix a wide berth. If there were negative stars, I would award a few.
