Excellent experience! The staff was friendly and took all my needs into consideration including my budget, which was mid-range (500$). I never felt any pressure to buy at any time. The staff took the time to answer all of my questions. Dr Shathasivam performed a super thourough evaluation, including taking relevant prior medical history, examining my older glasses for strenght, examining both my eyes to determine visual acuity, rule out daltonism, rule out other underlying eye disease (retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal disorders, among other things...). She also performed a slit lamp examination. I told her she could go ahead and administer me the cycloplegic eye droplets to dilate my pupils, which helps determine my true refractive error. I wanted the doctor to have the best possible condition for her examination so it could be as optimal and precise as it could possibly be. She did offer me both options, (that is with or without cycloplegic) which I though was very considerate of my needs! I have to say, these cycloplegic droplets cause minor transitory visual annoyance, but it only lasts for 3 hours so I was totally fine with that from the get go. I happen to be a MD and a private pilot. You can probably already tell that I love science, and optical physics is no exception. It's fun to see that the staff take times and enjoys sharing the knowledge and explaining the options (if you are so inclined to get into the deeper understanding of it). They are also very good at making the different options easy to understand for everyone (even if you don't have the intense curiosity that I have about glasses and the eye). The eye exam is well worth the 80$ for sure. I choosed my frame and lenses with the staff, trying on different pairs within my budget. I opted for a nice quality handmade frame. Their in-house brand. Once again, well worth it ! I really love it! It really feels like quality (took the Sean black frame). They did offer me many lense options such as standard, anti-fatigue, progressive, anti-glare, even digitally corrected, or some combination of these (there are many many more options to choose from depending of your personalized needs). We discussed the pros and cons of all these options, so I knew what I was getting. I called this the "informed consent"... I opted for a cheaper option and they repected and honored my choice. And I must say I've never seen so well for a long time (I went on my rooftop for halve an hour just to stare at the city) !! In the end, with the eye exam, the frame and the lenses (and complimentary glass case, microfiber cloth and cleaning solution), I ended up paying 380$ which is very reasonable for my needs and is even lower than my initial maximum budget. So all in all, I am very pleased. I will recommend evok to my friends and familly (and people on google) without any hesitation and I will go see these specialists again when I every need to. Very professionnal and empowering people there. Oh and the store is nice too ! Cheers ! Jonathan, a satisfied costumer.
