Very rude

I am currently at Sunnybrook Hospital for the next couple months as my daughter is in the NICU! I decided to head down to Dexters Optical to see if I could get my glasses tightened while I’m here. He barely cracked the door open for me to come in and stood in the entrance and said “what”. I politely asked if he does glasses tightening and he replied very rude “he only deals with people who bought glasses from him”. The store was completely empty so I’m sure he could have found 10 minutes to help a potentially new customer, but he seemed very unwelcoming. Prior to me entering another lady was in there and he seemed very kind and happy when speaking with her, I can’t help but wonder if the colour of my skin caused me to not receive that same treatment.

I have been going to Dexter for my glasses for about 20 years and now my husband goes there for his glasses and sunglasses too. Dexter or anyone he hires he hires does an excellent job of making recommendations for what looks good on you and he has a great selection of curated frames. At first glance, it looks as though he has a smaller selection than a big store, but the difference is every frame is unique and merits a spot on the wall. l also never see someone else with the same pair of glasses I’m wearing, which is nice.

Outstanding. As described in other reviews, Dexter has unparalleled knowledge and skills, incomparable to other places I have been for glasses. I bought glasses at Dexter’s twice in 3 years, and both times he explained the rationale for each glass, carefully confirming the measurements and glass parameters. I was very surprised when he suggested keeping the same frame and just updating the lenses - first time in my life someone was not pushing for new frames. Last time, I bought multifocal glasses and sunglasses and he had an amazing variety of frames. I will definitely come back for new glasses when the time comes. Thank you Dexter!

I have also been a loyal customer of Dexters for many years. My eyeglasses are very complex with respect to the lenses. He has on past occasions rejected the lenses that came in for me from the lens manufacturer because he knew they could do a better job with them - and he was correct. The man is simply not willing to accept mediocre and knows his trade better than most. He also rescued me when I had broken my glasses with a replacement frame that he had as a spare at no charge. I need to make another appointment actually and plan to do so tomorrow.

I highly recommend Dexters. I had several eyeglasses made here, and all of them are so comfortable to wear. The lens they use and the skills they demonstrated are top notch. Excellent, 5 stars.

Absolutely horrible. We went in to look around for new glasses. The guy standing in the middle of the store offered absolutely no assistance. I tried on a couple different frames and when I went to jot down the model number of one that interested me, he comes over and starts screaming "No No No! You are not allowed to record any information off the frames! What right do you think you have to write that down". OMFG, I just wanted to look up to see if it was available in a different color or look up the company. It was some brand that I had never heard of "Enrico Cecchi" Good luck dealing with these idiots!
