Insane prices!

I have been a customer at Hakim in Whitby for a few years as has my husband. I realized their prices were higher than most places but I appreciated the one year warranty. It seems I always ended up paying $300 out of pocket over what my fairly decent benefit plan covered. Over a year ago I purchased 2 sets of glasses from Hakim with their buy one get one free promo, and paid $710 for both frames and lenses. You never know what you're being charged, as they don't post their prices, but punch everything into a handheld calculator. It's not until you pay, that you get a breakdown. This week, I took one of the pairs of glasses back to Hakim, to see if they could replace the lenses as they were scratched. The price they gave me, to replace the lenses was $700 - the price I paid for two new frames and lenses about 18 months earlier! Ridiculous!!! I checked online and I am shipping the frames to BC to have the lenses replaced for $150 including coating and premium lenses

Helped me out on short notice with broken glasses from years ago and contacts to help me out until they were fixed. I no longer live in the area, but they were able to make arrangements for new lenses for these old frames and have them sent to a location close to where I live now. I really appreciated the great customer service!

Just popped by the store and called the phone number since during covid you have to book an appointment. My sunglasses had lost a screw that held the lense in place. The gentleman in the store told me that he would be right out and he replaced the screw that was missing , right on the spot. When I asked him the charge he said no charge even when I offered him. Very kind and gracious. Thank you so so much! Will be back when I need to buy new glasses 🙂

Never told me anything. Was leaving then my friend ask about getting glasses so he was told her cataracts are too bad. No glasses. I said well you didn’t say anything to me so what do I do. They come back with a piece of paper and said they will call or call them. Contact lens place. I need cataract surgery, not contacts. . I phoned a month later and said I want the results to take to an eye dr. They said dr will call me back in two days. They had no idea what to do on the phone. Thanks No one called. My phone number won’t even go through now. Says I need access code. Can’t even leave a message. They look after eyes???

I popped into this shop for help to pop out old lenses from a pair of Ray-Bans, as I had ordered new ones from RayBan directly. The man working there looked at me as if to quickly come up with a price in his head, and quoted me $25, literally just to pop out the lenses and pop in the new ones (plastic, non-prescription). Talk about bad business. I went across the street to Optical 20/20 and the man working there literally took less than one minute to do it for me, without any hesitation. When I asked him what the charge was, he looked at me like I was crazy. I know where I WONT be going to buy my next pair of glasses.
