my review of this particular store has nothing to do with the ("affordable eyewear" my a$$!) product and everything to do with the awful service... my wife and i had eye exam appointments for 3PM and 3:30PM, which in my world means I "be there a bit early maybe, but at least on time, so no one's schedule is messed up"... so were were there at 2:55PM... seems this store operates outside of time constraints and the like... three women working (doesn't matter what they were doing, honestly) when we came in, and after being greeted and asked why we were there - eye exams! - we were not addressed again until the doctor came out at 3:40PM... total time for our 2 eye exams was 20 minutes (this will matter as this review goes on, trust me)...i have had several eye exams and there is ZERO reason for a single eye exam to take more than about 20 minutes, which is why the appointments are scheduled at 30 minute intervals, more than enough time to be ready for the next appointment... so why did we arrive at 3PM and not get serviced until 3:40PM? seems a "customer" came in without an appointment and not only did they get an exam during our scheduled time, but the doctor spent her time after the exam chatting with the "customer", meanwhile we were in the store waiting to be, at the very least, told there would be a delay, or asked if we needed to reschedule (sorry, but i don't usually set aside an entire afternoon in case my appointment starts late and runs over due to chattiness ).. the 40 minutes we spent waiting, which was double the time our exams actually took to complete, were because an acquaintance of the doctor takes precedence over scheduled customers... you know what? screw you, SEE Eyewear Birmingham... not only did you not honor my appointments (like Seinfeld said: it's not taking the reservation, it's KEEPING the reservation that matters), but no one on your staff said a single thing to us for 40 minutes (OK, wait, one woman told my wife her skirt brought out the blue in her eyes nicely), and then the doctor has the gall to come out from the back and KEEP CHATTING WITH HER ACQUAINTANCE WHILE WE WERE STANDING THERE WAITING!!! seriously?!?! idea: train your staff to better handle "situations that arise", (like your doctor flaking out on scheduled exams to talk with her friend for 45 minutes and needing to provide a decently believable cover story to actual customers)... i will never use your company for eye exams or eyewear again... service matters, and what happened when i came to your store was unnecessary and unprofessional...

I absolutely love the staff, and the frame selection is so much fun, albeit limited. However, even though the lenses are "included" in the price of the frames, the antireflective flair coating is not part of the lens cost and is $99 so you're back to paying $99 + $10 for the lenses & polished edge, plus their frames are quite pricey ($219-$399). The $169 Core line does not work with any sort of discount, and if you purchase the "inexpensive" Core line, you're still paying $169+ the $99 for the antireflective glare and the $10 for the polished edges, and the Core line are not quality frames.

Top notch customer service. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They chose a selection of frames for me to try while I was getting my exam, so when I was done all I had to do was pick my favorite pair. The exam was quick and I felt very comfortable. I am in love with my new glasses!!
