We were travelling on a winter ski trip to the Rocky Mountains and were given a vehicle that was not equipped with snow tires. We were then offered vehicle damage protection insurance at a fairly steep rate to insure it. We declined this coverage because the same coverage is already provided by our credit card but felt it was unreasonable that a rental company could offer a vehicle that is not road worthy and then charge extra to insure it.

I frequently rent from this Thrifty location and have nothing but great things to say - excellent customer service. The agents always greet me by name and provide fast and friendly service.

They charged us a deposit of $300 which should have been returned after we returned the car. We did not receive this back and I am now chasing this up.... They also had no cars left when we arrived to collect our car and gave us a mini bus. As we were going for over 3 weeks, we then had to go back 2 days later. They claimed they did not have any cars at this point too until we counted all the cars they had sitting waiting and came back to tell them this.

Charging an extra $20/day for winter tires DURING WINTER in Alberta seems criminal! This should be a standard safety item for cars rented in a place with snow. My car can barely get out of the parking lot and there's 2in on the ground. You wouldn't charge extra for seatbelts, would you?? Not recommended.

They have no stock of cars at the airport. You arrive then the call someone at a depot and maybe 20min or later a car may arrive. Very frustrating if in a hurry. This is no way to run a hire company. They knew we were coming. The car was prepaid in fact we were a few minute late.
