First time to rent with these guys.
Walked in at end of May, almost two months before my rental date, to ask them to offer the same price as the downtown branch for a 2-week minivan rental. They gave me a better price than anywhere I could find. They accepted and I thought great! I thought it was strange that they didn't need my credit card at time of reservation, as usually everywhere needs it.
Months later and three weeks before the pickup date, they called me to cancel my reservation and offered no alternatives. Their excuse was that the minivan model I would be renting (previous was told they use Toyota Sienna and Dodge Grand Caravan) was on manufacturer recall, and so they were cancelling my reservation and were sorry. I asked if they could book me somewhere else or had any affiliation with other agencies, but they would not assist me.
Now, in high season close to my rental date, everywhere else is offering double the rate I had or more. I have six people coming in from the other side of the world looking forward to an inexpensive sightseeing road trip, and Dollar Thrifty really left me in the lurch.
