It was our first visit to the province of BC and I've booked to pick up the car at this downtown location as opposed to the airport YVR location. The price was half. Our full week rental of $193 + a $20 Costco gift card that was mailed to me 5-6 weeks after the rental period. The location is a block away from the train station. Very convenient coming from either cruise port or YVR. No pickup/drop off service offer at this location though. Please make sure that you 2x check the business hour if picking/dropping car on a holiday. We've booked for 9:30AM pickup time (coming from the cruise port) but only to discover that the office was closed. Being Labour Day Monday, the office opened at 10AM as opposed to 8AM. So do check despite what your printed confirmation receipt says! Other than that, the car was new (Jeep Renegade) and service was fast, friendly and efficient (both at picking up and dropping off car). Like all car rentals, do a thorough check of car before leaving the lot, point out all questionable scratches/dents/damages and take pictures as backup. Would recommend to give this place a chance if you are in town looking for a rental and convenient location.

The entire car rental process was pretty smooth. I had done an online booking and I noticed that it was mentioned Richmond, ON instead of Richmond, BC. But it was a mistake from the website and I did end-up having a confirmed booking at this location and I was offered an upgrade as well to a SUV.

We had reserved a van through Costco for 12/26 - 12/30. On 12/26, I Called the local Avis office twice from the hotel to pick up the car and no one had answered the phone. I then called Costco, they suggested to call Avis head quarter. I Called Avis HQ and talked to a female rep, she apologized for the system error which should have not allowed us to select to pick up the car on 12/26 because it was a holiday in Canada (boxing day) all offices will be closed. However, I should be able to pick up the car the next day. The next day 12/27 , I came to the local office to pick up the car, the staff/owner said "there is no car available for me since he's been waiting for me for hours yesterday and then given it up to someone who also needs a car..." I thought I had planned very well for my family vacation by booking things months in advance, and I ended up had no car for us to drive around in the city that we have not been in before. Who should be responsible for this? Costco, Avis HQ, or Avis local office? It is simple for one person to say "no, I am sorry...I cant do anything for you now..." and it is much harder and frustrated for the people who faced the problem. Honestly, I have been renting a car through Costco many times. This is my first time with Avis - the worst experience so far.

Really nice service by the owner, and I get a free upgrade! Definitely suggest to come here and rent a car!

Had so much trouble with that rental Avis location. The guy tried his best to make me a good deal but then received unauthorized charges on my credit card. Called Avis customer service several time and no one was able to tell me why 766$ were charge on my card. Everything is complicated with this branch! DON'T go there.
