The van ran decent for the age it was, shakes a bit at highway speeds. The “gazebo” can easily be purchased at Walmart for the price they charge. Be careful when you make the drop off time, I was charged an additional day without being told in advance. They return the deposit into your credit card. It took 2 weeks before I received it.

We had a great six days travelling around the island in our cool camper. It did have a few quirks as any older vehicle would have but it was reliable, comfortable and great value. Good service from Jessica and the team. Would rent again if we are ever heading back this way.

Warning about the final price! Be aware of that the prices they give you are not the price you will finally have to pay. The contract which you sign upon picking up the van has another total costs, and forces you to pay much more than what was agreed upon. This is very upsetting but once you signed you have to pay. It is not possible to reason with them about how unfair this behavior is. I guess they do this on purpose to trick people. If they had some conscious they would had reimbursed me after I showed all our communication about the agreed price, but they totally ignored me. Also, make sure that the spare tire is of good quality, you will use it! Maybe even more than once as I had to, and the spare tire was so bad I was lucky I could get to the next city on it. I loved the car though! So sad to leave the experience feeling ripped off!

Really great small company, great van, lots of room when it converts from a table to a bed, van was better on gas then i was expecting. The back door jammed on us & we ended up breaking the handle trying to get it open, we were told when we picked up the van to just give him a call if anything is wrong with the van & he can fix it, so we called him & explained we didn't mind paying for the handle itself as it was our fault & when he inspected it & found that the door was jammed and it wasn't our fault he fixed it for us & didn't charge us. Had a great experience & saw majority of vancouver island :)

We had a great experience with Cool Camper, the vans are in great condition considering they are models from the 90’s and they are very comfortable to drive and stay in. I would recommend renting a cool camper to anyone looking to add a bit of adventure to there trip to Vancouver island. Only hiccup we had was that we had forgot to ask that we wanted to be supplied pillows and sleeping bags when we booked so the owner had us follow him for about a 10 minute drive to get them, didn’t delay our plans at all and he was happy to do so. We received our full damage deposit back we were just sure to clean up any mess we had made i.e. Vacuumed up some sand and clean the amenities that we used, such as pots, plates and cutlery. The owner is a great guy, an ex mechanic who takes pride in the fleet of vans. I had the chance to chat with him for a while as he waited with us for almost an hour for the taxi to get there after we returned the van which he called for us. Our expertinence with cool camper was 10/10, your’s will be to if you are realistic about your expectations. Signed couple mid twenties Ontarioians with some great memories of Vancouver Island
